The opening of the Sawgrass Expressway in the western region of Coral Springs created more population growth for the city. With strict building codes, as well as a low crime rate and a family friendly environment, the community of Coral Springs has become an attractive place to live and raise a family.

In 1997 the Coral Springs Art Center and Museum of Art opened. The 1,400 seat auditorium is a popular venue for concerts, theatrical presentations, opera and ballet, while the museum showcases nationally known artists, as well as local and native Florida artists.
